I have downloaded software that consumes all your CPU and GPU to see if that was the issue, maybe they were been maxed out (unlikely) and causing it to shut off. I have tried removing my battery and playing solely off the mains supply thinking maybe the battery was faulty. I have reinstalled my graphics drivers thinking it was related to that, the problem still occurs. I have gone into the power settings and turned off the feature that changes brightness automatically as that has been suggested already, the problem still occurs. I have asked around and no solution has been found. Most of the time, I can predict when it is going to happen, I will be playing and then the brightness on the screen will start shifting from maximum to minimum to maximum to minimum and so on until it eventually just shuts down. And I am able to turn it on at other times without the charger plugged in no problem.Ī few more details. But the laptop works fine without the charger plugged in at other times. if I turn it on and pull the cable while it turns on, sometimes it black screens and shuts down straight away again. Doesn't give any suggestion as to what is causing it to shut down.Ī strange thing too is that when the brightness is flickering from min to max and vice versa, if I pull out the charging cable the laptop shuts off, sometimes it won't turn back on without the cable been plugged in. When I look at the error report for the computer, it just comes up as a critical error stating that the system was not shut down safely.
The laptop isn't overheating, I am confident there as it isn't hot when I feel it after the shutdown. I can leave my laptop alone to make sure it is cool, and turn it back on, and open a game straight away, I can play for a few mins and bam.
I know this only occurs when gaming because I can be using my laptop for hours faultlessly but within 10 mins (if that, usually a couple of minutes) of playing a game it shuts off. Literally 1 second I can be mid game, the next I am looking at a black screen and a dead laptop pondering why. My laptop is just shutting down, no warnings or 'shutting down' screen.
